Environmentally Sensitive Conference

Spring Academy to be Environmentally Sensitive

In an effort to have an environmentally sensitive conference, the Spring Academy planning committee
has opted to implement the following:

Electronic marketing materials (Only a small number of paper materials were produced.)
Online registration and email confirmation (No paper necessary!)
Paper presenter handouts will not be distributed by conference, but rather will be available
on conference website prior to and during conference for participants to download at their
convenience. (Please note that some presenters may opt to bring their own handouts for distribution.)
Recycled name tags and lanyards made from recycled materials will be used
Name tag recycling boxes will be available at the close of the conference
Participants’ bag will be made of natural and/or organic materials and participants will be encouraged
to reuse the bag

The Grand Sierra Resort is also making an effort to be environmentally sensitive by doing the following:

Entire hotel has tinted windows
Light bulbs crushed in EPA approved crusher
Boiler burns off more efficiently do to retro fit of new flame rods
Two new chillers replaced with new technology
Water savers are in all rooms
Our lake is used for cooling water and recycled back to lake instead of using chillers
Air handlers and return fans have frequency drives in them to allow them to fluctuate based on lead
Light bulbs retro fitted from T12's to T8's incandescent
Use garbage compactors on garbage
Air curtains in loading dock areas
Passenger elevators retro fit to Solid state from relay systems
Card Board recycled
Paper recycling program in place
Grease recycled from kitchens
Signage on new marques LAD Sign just installed for energy efficiency and earning us a $100K rebate.
Maintenance programs are in place to insure efficiency throughout hotel
