The Nevada Practice Improvement Collaborative (PIC) is a joint
effort of practitioners, researchers, policy-makers, educators, and
consumers to improve the quality of treatment services by
increasing the dissemination and application of evidence-based
practices. The stakeholders in the PIC created a knowledge adoption
agenda focusing on the issues of stigma, field effectiveness,
client engagement, substance-abusing juvenile offenders and
treatment outcomes.
The Nevada PIC membership includes: researchers specializing in the
study of addiction, treatment, recovery, etc., practitioners
representing community-based treatment providers, educators from
higher education programs in addiction counseling, policy-makers at
the state and local levels who have oversight and funding
responsibilities regarding addiction treatment services, and
consumers (e.g., individuals who have been involved in addiction
treatment services). By design, practitioners are over-represented
in the Nevada PIC.
Membership in this organization is open. Intersted individuals must
meet the following membership criteria:
- Nevada resident or works in the State of Nevada
- Demonstrated interest in the substance abuse treatment and
prevention field
- Documentation of current status as a member of one of the
stakeholder groups (e.g., community-based treatment provider,
consumer, researcher, policymaker, educator, community
activist/advocate, etc.)
- Willingness to donate 20 hours a year of service to the Nevada
PIC for committee work and stakeholder meetings
