The Mountain West Addiction Technology Transfer Center (MWATTC) began in 1993. As one of the original eleven ATTCs, MWATTC developed continuing education training and undergraduate/graduate courses in addiction counseling for pre-service students and substance abuse professions. During this initial five year funding period, the states targeted for services included Nevada and Montana. In 1998, MWATTC received funding to continue and expand its efforts (e.g., providing services to Wyoming, & Utah) and in 2004 MWATTC expanded again to include Colorado. MWATTC is part of the Center for the Application of Substance Abuse Technologies (CASAT) located at the University of Nevada, Reno. Since 1993, Mountain West Substance Abuse Treatment (CSAT) in its mission of improving the lives of individuals and families affected by substance abuse by ensuring access to clinically sound, cost-effective addiction treatment (CSAT Mission Statement, 1992).
